Well, I’m not really sure that this is actually bread but that is what the recipe refers to it as.  Lemon Blueberry Bread is its name and delicious is its game.  I have made this dessert several times but I think that today was my best thus far.

In it goes at 350 degrees

This recipe came from a news feed post from Facebook.  I thought it sounded tasty and easy enough to make so I gave it a whirl.  Another thing I liked about this recipe is that there was no need to go on an expensive shopping spree to pick up what is needed.  The list of ingredients were things I already had in the house, with the exception of the blueberries.

Out it comes golden brown

Today I added a second layer of icing, at the request of my good friend Sheila, who was going to be the happy recipient of this sweet treat.  The first layer of glaze is confectioners sugar, fresh lemon juice, melted butter & vanilla extract.  On the second I used milk instead of lemon juice to thicken it up.   I suppose this is how new recipes are created, by tweaking ingredients to your own taste.  Every time I read a cookbook I think “How do these chefs know how much to use of what?”  I guess this is how new recipes are born, by trial and error.  Tasting and tasting, again and again.  Maybe I will try to document some of my own culinary creations and Donna will have to be my taste tester.  Some girls have all the luck 😉

The final product.  Lemon Blueberry Bread with extra icing.
